Electric start models are fitted with stator coils, #24, and a rectifier #6. The coil is under flywheel but the rectifier is bolted to the side of the engine.
The wiring is all done via terminal strip #4. The yellow, yellow/grey and yellow/blue wires are the AC (with yellow grey being the common wire from the two coils) Red is DC positive and the rectifier case is the negative.
The rectifier can be checked as described in the article by Joe Reeves on the
ENGINE FAQs board but use the diode test range of a digital meter not one of the resistance ranges.
