This is a 1973 25 Evinrude. From the armature plate there are two wires with plugs on the ends of them that hook to the coils. Can you hook either coil to either wire coming from armature plate.? They appear to be the same as if it doesnt matter!
It matters. The parts book at http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=E shows markers on the wires. I suppose you can figure it out by observing which piston is at top center when a set of points opens and that is the coil that is ready to fire.
