Evinrude compression?

Hello all,<br />I am interested in purchasing a boat with a 1994 Evinrude 88hp outboard motor. I would like to know what the compression should be and is it a 3 or 4 cylinder engine? If I do purchase the boat I will be buying a service manual right away. Thanks for you help!

minnoak,<br /><br />The engine is a 4 cylinder in a "V" configuration.<br /><br />That '88' is one of the most durable engines ever produced.<br /><br />The compression should be over 100 psi. More importantly, the compression should be within 5-10% of each other in each cylinder.
