You want opinions or facts? Either way you're gonna get a lot of both here, just not sure you're asking in the right forum, you will probably get switched to the Non-Repair Outboard forum.

In any case do a search on the site for E-tec and you will get a lot of info.

Personally, I think they are the best engine on the market right now, hands down. I wouldn't hesitate at all to buy one, in fact I am knocking the idea around myself.

Good Luck.

Wow, that's not bad for a 150. I would have thought at least 11 or 12K. I think I got quoted around 9K for a 115 at the Boat Show.

I would say if you got one, you would get exactly what you are looking for. Once it gets installed you won't have to worry about anything, which is the reason I am thinking about it. Plus you won't even have to worry about any maintenance for 3 years, and you will never have to worry about fogging, just hit the self fog feature and it will load itself up. Right now they are offering a 5yr warranty also. If you have a good place in your area to take in for service, if needed, then I would say you will be set.

Fogging oil is an anticorrosive that protects the internal surfaces of both your carb and cylinders over the winter months. Used during your annual winterization, if applicable.

yea i was looking at that

i was reading on another post that someone said that it was to be taken to the dealer 2 times in the first year so that the can adjust the oil flow to the cyclinbders

that the oil flow is jumped up so that there does not have to be a break in period that they were told this by there friend that is a evinrude tech

There is no breakin procedure, but the motor double oil for the first 5 to 10 hours above 2500 rpm.

BTW, you couldn't install an E-Tec yourself; it must be done by an authorized dealer.

They're great motors ( I have a pair of 175's, which share the same block as the 150). I have had zero problems through 3 seasons.

These motors are not fogged, but winterized by following a simple procedure that adds extra oil and automatically shuts the motor down. The E-Tec's are NOT for backyard tinkerers, so make sure to hook up with a good dealer with at least one really good tech. Good luck.

If you have any plans to do any serious service on the motor, buy the E-Tec software and cables plus get a shop manual.

Another vote for the HO. Especially if you have a performance hull of some sort. The Lightning gearcase will really help.

Ah, if you need a 25" you'll not get the Lightning gearcase. On the other hand, if your boat could stand a bit more hp you might look at the small block 200. Same size as the 150 / 175.
