I have an Evinrude 4hp Deluxe 1993. Seems to be out of time this is what I have done so far. Compression test 135# one cyl. 137# on the other. Cleaned carburator and installed new needle and seat everything looks great. Check reed valves no crack or breaks seem to close tightly. Plugs seem to have beautiful blue fire. The engine will only pop and sometimes back fire. Feel like timing issuses the way it bumps back on the starter cord. Also look at the timing advance linkage seems to be ok. When you turn the throttle back it slides all the way back. Took flywheel off and cleaned face of all ignition parts with emery cloth and made no differnce. A person told me the igniton module needs to be replaced. Can that effect timing? I could see if I had no fire but I have all kinds. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
