Evinrude Electric Choke ?

1996 Evinrude 25hp electric start with electric choke (primer).<br />What is the prescribed cold starting method for this outboard?<br />(If you push the key in once the electric primer clicks once.)<br />How many times should the button be pushed?<br />I have no paperwork or manuals on this motor & have been using a 50 to 1 mixture, is this correct?<br />Thanks,<br />Bob

Powersport..... Think of the primer solenoid as you would think of a choke. It is not a pump. You hold the key in for it to operate as the engine turns over.<br /><br />With the engine turning over (cranking or running), and holding the key in position, the fuel pump will force fuel through the solenoid to small hoses that lead to the intake manifold leaf plate area, effectively priming the engine.
