Evinrude electric trolling motor

I just purchased a boat that has a bow mounted electric trolling motor with the old style cable operated foot control.

The motor has a 3 prong plug that plugs into the appropriate plug in the bow then runs bacl to a battery copartment in the stern.

My question is in the battery compartment there is also 3 connections????
How do I connect 3 wires to a 2 pole battery.

This might help. Make sure you have properly sized circuit protection (fuse or breaker).
