evinrude electrical buzzer issue

It used to be when i turned the ignition on, (1995 88SPL) a short buzzer would start then die off (kind of a power-up warning sound)

since swapping the powerhead (this week), when i turn the ignition on (not start, just 'on'), a buzzer goes off and never stops. (under the console)

would a bad starter-circuit diode cause this? (next to starter relay)

i thought it was a temp-sensor short circuit at first so i disconnected both temp sensors. no love.

only thing that turns the buzzer of is to disengange the main powerHead connector (red).

Re: evinrude electrical buzzer issue

Try disconnecting the fuel pump oil sensor harness. If that doesn't stop it, then it sounds like you have a "short to ground"

Remember, disconnecting the plug under the hood also cuts power from the horn. Therefore the problem is not necessarily on the motor, but can be up to, or in the control box as well.

Cheers :)
