Just wondering if anyone has any first hand info on how slow a 60 or 75 hp etec will troll a 16' aluminum deep-v.

Re: EVINRUDE ETEC MOTORS

depends on the boat ie live wells etc.... how much fuel basically the weight but on a calm day boat total weight in the 1500 to 1700 lb id say 1.8 to 2.2 mph

The idle speed can be dialed in for your application plus a prop change can make for various trolling speeds. There are too many variables to give you a fixed mph.

Bass Man:

I'm the guy with the Alaskan and the e-tec. Actually, it's an 18' foot Alaskan but I don't think that makes a lot of difference. The 50hp gets down to 0.9 consistently. But to do that, the dealer set the RPM down to 600. (You probably already know they can adjust the RPMs quite a bit on these). Also, the prop was selected for trolling...and that affects the top end a little. I get up to 32mph. (boat went a little faster with my previous carbed 2 stroke).

Too bad you didn't post this a couple weeks ago. I was in your area fishing and you could have checked out the motor. But the dealer I worked with is closer to you in Decatur, MI. I'm sure they'd be happy to help you out. If you need any further info, let me know. Good luck, Trout

Re: EVINRUDE ETEC MOTORS

Bill in In and others thanks for the info. would have loved to seen the motor while you were up here Bill in In. I am waiting on a back ordered 60 hp etec and could have a 75 hp etec right now but the gear ratio on the 75 is 2:1 vs 2.67:1 on the 60 hp. hence my desire to know how the various motors pan out trolling.(60's not availeable till at least nov.)I'm not typically a patient person but I don't want to spend this kind of money and compromise.

Also, I would have replied earlier but I am on a borrowed computer, and I just now figured out how to read a post to my question. Bill in IN, it is my understanding that the etecs can be idled down to 400 rpm. Just wondering if the idle stays at 600 when putin gear or does it jump slightly?
