Hi, This is my first time so here goes. I am very new to boating and cant wait to get on the water. I have just purchased a Evinrude Fisherman Six, in great condition, started on the third pull and sounds and responds great. It has been bought to be a kicker engine on a 17.5 feet open Cathedral Hull boat, so it is to be mounted on a adjustable bracket. The engine is 18 inches from the underside of the Transom Bracket to the horizontal plate directly above the prop. Is she a short, standard or long shaft ? and is it correct that the plate described above, be level with the water, lots of videos i have watched seam to have the engine mounted so as the water outlet is four inches above the water. any information greatly appreciated.

Regards Ade

Re: Evinrude Fisherman Six

Having the motor mounted so the water outlet is four inches above the water line when operating the kicker would be better. It will not pump water and will ventilate if the plate is even with the water.
