Hope this is the right place to ask a question but here goes: I recently purchased a 1956 fleetwin 7.5 horse motor. It is complete and supposed to be in great shape. My question is, will a 1955 fleetwin 7.5 horse powerhead be a suitable donor for spare parts.
Thanks

Best thing I can suggest is take lots of pics and measurements and then go take a look the other thing is to make sure all the gearing is the same

There were many changes between 1955 and 1956. Midsecton is different. I THINK the powerhead base pattern is different, but not sure. Recoil starter and flywheel are different. Steering bracket and motor mounts are different. Motor covers are different. To mention a few...

The parts that may most likely wear out or fail should interchange. OMC was the best of all on interchange.

Crankshaft, rods, pistons will work. Cylinder head will work. Reed plate and mag plate will work. That's about it.
