Evinrude Hood Renovation

I just bought a boat with an 85hp Evinrude. The motor is in great shape with the exception of the weatherstrip (for lack of a better word) around the bottom that seals it to the base. Does anyone out there know where I can find this strip so that I can remove the old and replace it.

Just the first of many questions,

Joe

It can be ordered at your dealer. Another option could be an automotive truck building company, they have several rubber profiles in their catalogues.

I recently replaced the seal on the cowl on my '76 85hp. I got a new one from my local J/E dealer. Cost was about $25. It looks a whole lot better - well worth the price.

Thanks for the response. If replacing this seal is the only problem I have with my motor, I'll be one lucky guy.....

Now, the trick is finding an Evinrude dealer close to me....

Joe
