Does anyone have a Web Page, Guide or "Hack" for replacing the Impeller in an Evinrude 200 hp outboard (1996 model)? I think I can handle it, but I could use some advice. Special tool to release shift mechanism? Any gaskets needed? Any guidance would be appreciated. thx

Re: Evinrude Impeller Replacement

To do the job properly, you need to replace a couple of Orings, a couple of gaskets, the wearplate and the impeller. Each require some kind of sealant The woodruff key is plastic and gets locked into the driveshaft. To release the shift shaft there should be a clevis pin you pull, below the starboard carbs. The shift linkage will then slide sideways and release.

As you can see it is a bit involved. Most any manual will have nice pictures.
