I just purchased my first boat the other day. It is a 98 Triton Tr19 with an Evinrude Intruder 175. I've took it out 3 times, first 2 times, No Problems, this last time I was out I was coming back down the lake and the NO OIL light and beeper came on. I checked the oil container in the back and it wasnt completely empty but it was down close to the low mark. On the console, there is a NO OIL light and a LOW OIL light. If the oil was low, shouldnt the LOW OIL light have came on? Anyone ever had this problem, if so anyone know what to do to fix it? Thanks

Yes in a perfect world the Low oil light would have come on.

I never let my oil get any less than 1/3 full. Keep it full you NEVER want to see an oil light on.

Sounds like you need the start troubleshooting the alarm circuitry.

is it possible that maybe the VRO is bad? I've saw alot of things on the internet about the VRO.

Re: Evinrude Intruder 175 Question

many people choose to bypass the VRO and premix their fuel. It is my personal choice. Instructions or in this forum. just do a search. If you cant find it let me know.

Re: Evinrude Intruder 175 Question

Its not a VRO problem.
Rather the opposite, its the VRO doing what its supposed to do,
its a freindly reminder to add oil.

I've read more problems from guys forgetting to add oil to their gas tank than VRO problems. Forget to mix oil and you blow the engine.

Forget to add oil to the VRO AND have a non functioning warning buzzer will put engine into slow, it will run without oil in SLOW.
