evinrude / johnson v4 1967 60 hp are these the same motor ?

hi all<br />hope sum1 can help me with this ?.<br />i was given a 1967 evinrude v4 60 hp outborad, as this is my first boat was happy to except the motor for free. as it is such an old motor im expecting parts hard to come by. i have seen a johnson 1967 v4 60 hp for sale and was wondering if theses motors are the same or compatible for parts. the covers are slightly diffrent but what i can see of the motor they look simular, can any one help. <br /><br />M uch appreciated buzz

Welcome to iboats. <br /><br />There is a big difference. The Evinrude hood is MUCH uglier! <br /><br />Under the hood, they're identical. The remote controls are different, but interchangeable.

ohh ps forgot to ask what about the gearbox ect would they all be the same?<br /><br />and thanx 4 the tip ill take that leason as soon as the boats ready for the water thanx again willy

Hi Buzzard,<br /> With the exception of the cowlings and the control boxes, the motors are part-for-part interchangeable. And, as pointed out, the control boxes will interchange as a unit...<br /><br />- Scott

Could one of you folks with a 1967 Johnson 60 please send me a picture of the steering linkage where it attatches to the motor. I just bought one and the linkage is gone. I have half the bracket but not the stuff to connect it to a cable. Thanks mocrouchs@vci.net
