I have a 1972 50 hp lark #50273c. I read somewhere Evinrude started producing the lark models in 1956. What year did they end?

Just curious, Dan...

Re: Evinrude Lark models

Likely around the model year of yours. I don't recall seeing the name used on anything later. The 1960s was a series of 40hp Lark models, followed by a Roman numeral (for awhile) until they did away with the numeral and just called it the Lark. The name was first used in 1956 on the 30hp, followed by the 35 from 1957 to 1959, and the 40 from there on until they 50hp twin came out in 1971... In the 1960s the Lark 40 model had electric shift, as opposed to the standard "Big Twin" which had mechanical shift.
