Alright... I posted on here juneish 2007 about my "brand new" Evinrude big twin.. had TONS of help as I am an outboard rookie... with many posts.. and many searching online... (and a stupid hard record winter) The boat has finally made it to the lake... After not being in the water for 8 years... crossed my fingers and turned the key...

within seconds the motor fired right up... idled up no problems... I let it run for about 2 - 4 minutes... let the rpm come down... idled SMOOTH!...

I pushed the button for forward.. waiting for the rush of being back on the lake... notta. Nothin... the motor kept running in nuetral... so... tried reverse... nothin :(

After a year and a half getting it ready to go... I am at a loss again... Tranmission? just faulty wiring? hoping someone can set me in the right path again...

I would start with the selection switch, particularly since both fwd and reverse are out. You did reconnect the wires back to the lower unit, didn't you ?:)

Yes :) the wires are all reconnected :) The control panel itself is a switch, if the switch at the control box was shot, would it be possible to McGyver a new switch (put it up on the dash all nice and cool looking) or does it pretty much mean "new control box"? and I guess next question... how to test it out?

Ok... Switch box was damaged... got me a good Toggle switch (On-Off-On) which works PERFECTLY in the testing... pushed boat into lake.. and now wont start... grumble grumble... I have seen posts about sheared pins?? not sure what I am looking for but want this boat goign before the end of summer :(
