Evinrude Model 282526 Electric Start 1962 Or 196?

Attempting to find the correct parts in iboats catalog, Im not finding the exact match, there are could be's, but can you please elaborate why or can you give me all the info you have, it would be nice to know, since I was informed that it's a 1964.

That number must not be correct. A 1962 28hp should be 28202 oe 28203. A 1964 would be 28402, 28403 oe 28452.

Summing up, the first two numbers are the horsepower
Third number is the year (2= 1962, etc)
Fourth number is 0=rope start, 5=electric start
Fifth number is 2=short shaft, 3=long shaft
Sixth number is not a number, but a letter. Indicates any mid-year changes, IF there were any.

1962 28hp motors were all rope start, with an electric start conversion kit available
1963-1964 28hp motors were rope or electric start models, with a conversionkit available for the rope start
1965 motors were 33hp

Shaft length was so easy to convert, many have been.
