OK, first off I have ordered the Selock and the actual OMC Manual. I have this motor which I think is a 1968 65hp SportFour. Ok the motors have not been fired up in many many years... So my question is what do I do first before I attempt to fire them up? Also I see alot of corroded wires which I will have to trace and replace (what kind of wire do I replace them with). Any help would be appreciated. I have a lot of work ahead and I don't want to make any major mistakes up front.
Thank you in advance.....

Spray lube in the cylinders.
Change the impeller.
Go through the fuel system, tank to carbs, clean
and repair as required.Special attention to
cleaning.
Change the lower unit lube.
As I understand it there is marine grade wire that is resistant to sorrosion.
You may have to service the ignition system.

Lyman Man

In addition to what Spike said, replace your fuel line, primer bulb and connectors, as they are probably shot. Run a Mix of 25:1 of new fuel and oil in the Fuel Tank until you are sure everything is OK. You may want to replace or clean the fuel Tank also. Also, check/replace the fuel filter. There is a replacememt grade wire for marine use available at West marine and others. Make sure you solder all connections and seal with heat shrink tubing or liquid tape. I'm sure more advice will follow! Good Luck and Happy New Year,
