evinrude no spark

While warming up on a fishing trip in June the evinrude 225 1988 just quit like I turned off the key. I checked the key and Kill and they check out good. I then put in new power pack still no spark. Pull flywheel and have cracked magnet and the debris took out stator and timer base. I have replaced with the help of a mobile marine mechanic: Flywheel ( used ), Timer base (new), Stator (new) power pack ( new ) and a known good rectifier (used), still no spark.
Key and Kill switch check out good. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to look next? I am nearing my breaking point.

CDI Electronics Trouble Shooting Guide.
Download it to view on your computer, much easier than flipping pages.

Make sure you have correct year flywheel...they look alike but hub magnet layout is different.

If you look in the guide the magnet layout that faztbullet mentioned is shown for each motor.
How are you testing for spark & did you physically disconnect the kill wire at the motor?

More on the ongoing saga

Finally got spark on all 6
I performed the link and sync in the manual to a T . I got to the step to set idle timing, put the boat in the lake and the timing is supposed to be at 6*ATDC the closest I can get is 4* the motor is smoking like crap and will run at like 1500 rpm but when I drop into neutral it idles really poorly loads up and stalls. I thought there may have been oil built up in the base so I went out on the lake managed to get into gear so I ran around around 3000 rpm to "clean it out" still problem persists. Any ideas?

I'm nearing the end of my rope and do not have $28,000 for new OB

Thanks Bruce

Also checked the flywheel, same number stamped in it and the relationship from the keyway and the TDC mark is same and the interior magnets on the central boss seem to have the same timing marks

Also seems to run OK in mid rpm range, this idle problem is driving me nuts

1) Is the motor new to you?
If so, has it ever consistently run well for you?

2) Have you used a purpose-built spark tester to verify that the spark will jump a 3/8" gap?

3) Worth checking compression.

I have had the boat since 2005 I have replaced the cdi and a coil prior to this last go round . Other than that it has been great running motor idled fine ran great always started etc. I have kept up with all of the normal maintenance, fuel water separator, filter, plugs, impeller, grease, lower unit lube etc.
Compression is around 105-110 on all if memory serves. A little low but prior to the last incident the motor pushed the boat with 4 people to 41 mph and that is consistent with how it had always ran.

Thanks

sorry, yes I have that exact spark tester, and the compression test was during this last saga the numbers are all within a few lbs of what I stated I just don't have the numbers I wrote down with me.

Just a thought, when you did the link & sync did you use the genuine OMC manual for your exact motor and did you do the link & sync from the very beginning?

Yes I used the omc manual, and I started right at the beginning. Going from memory because the manual is home.
disconnect throttle cable, adjust butterflies, set cam follower pick up point adjust and reconnect throttle cable etc.

Thanks for the thooughts

You mention in a earlier post that it is smoking. How old is your VRO pump/fuel lines? I have a 1987 225 and repaired my loose flywheel magnets, replaced both CDI's and stator(all which helped) but I had a small air leak on the input side of the fuel pump (snap clamp broke letting air in the system). This causes the oil pump to pump too much and make the engine smoke like crazy! Just a thought.
