Evinrude rebuild referrals?

Looking for somebody to rebuild the lower unit in my 89 Evinrude 40hp. I don't mind shipping it to somebody.

Anybody know somebody that specializes in these or anything? Local marina doesn't want to rebuild.

Not surprized that shops do not want to rebuild these things.----That lower unit uses the small spline shaft.-------Only used in 89 / .90 / 91 and 92 model years.----Your location ?

Vermont, wouldn't mind traveling a bit or shipping the lower unit. What difference does shaft size make? I'm tempted to start a thread on how to go about doing this myself.

These units are not considered robust.-----I am assuming it stripped the teeth of the pinion gear and forward.-----Rebuilt 3 of these recently with that same problem.----With time / patience you can do this yourself.----You will be shocked by the price of the parts.-------Hopefully the driveshaft is still good.
