Evinrude running problems

My 1951 Evinrude Sportwin model 4423 will fire up, run good then it will die for no reason and is hard to start. I cleaned the carb and it started real easy. I think it might be flooding, so I will have to reset the float. How should I set it, I need a real professional here because I don't want to take the carburetor off a hundred times.

walsalx5151,The float setting is a pretty critical adjustment on your carburetors.While there may be a member that will come along with the specifics on the setting,the real expert will be an engine specific manual.Besides that info ,it will be packed with lots of priceless tips on how to maintain your engine and pay for itself in jig time.Good luck.

Take the carb. off turn it upside down, the float should be parilel with the carb base.
