Question guys,
can I replace the selectric controls with a two lever control on a 1964 Lark 40HP ?

No - the shift mechanism is electric on your motor, not mechanical. Requires 12 volts running through the push buttons to operate. The two-lever controls are for motors with a mechanical shift mechanism.
