is there a site that i can use to identify year model. i do not have model # iboats only has model #s thanks

Serial numbers are not used to determine production year.-----Use ----google ----To come up with the complete production / model history of Johnson / Evinrude.---Should be easy to find.

40hp evinrude there is a evinrude co. site that gives production date from serial # but i cannot find it

There are serial numbers for U.S. motors, serial numbers for U.s motors made in Georgia, serial numbers for motors made in Canada, and even in other countries. If there is an inclusive list,, i've sure never found it. Off-hand, I suspect yours was made in GA. I've been looking for a list of those too. Anybody????.

Some years ago I called Evinrude customer support 847-689-7090 and gave them the numbers on a couple of motors I had. One Evinrude one Johnson. They called back a couple days later with all the information on both including the model numbers. The info I gave them was a number stamped on a silver welsh plug on the engine block. No idea if they still do that but worth a try.
