Back for more help! looking at 1978 evinrude 70873c, fro replacement on old pontoon, does the model number indicate shaft length?

Looking at the parts diagrams I found for that model number, it lists both 15" and 20" shaft options.

Even if the model number did indicate a specific shaft length, the only way to be sure would be to actually measure it. Never know if it was changed from one length to the other without measuring.

even if it is 15/20 inch shaft, on a pontoon you are better off with a 25inch, aspeople tend to sit up front , and thaty motor is not strong enough to keep the nose up with all that weight, so you tend to ventilate
