Got a 99 evinrude 150 ficht with omc controls and lately when i'm running and slow down to put it in neutral it stays in fwd. unless i pull the control arm just a hair back past the neutral position then it ungages. Reverse works and shifts normal feels like there is a little more roughness and tightness when shifting fwd. lately. Lower unit was replaced 2 yrs. ago brand new omc with no unusual noises. Thinking cables just wanted to grt a few opinions. Thanks! BTW it won't act up when i'm flushing the motor shifts and engages and disengages normal only when in the water.

Re: Evinrude shifting problem

you have a misadjusted shift cable, or a worn out shift cable. you adjust the cable to the motor, not the motor to the cable, use the trunion nuts on the motor end of the cable to adjust.
