what are the correct spark plugs for a 9.5 horsepower evinrude sportwin? model number 9522c? also are there any charts to tell me what year the motor is based on serial number?

champion j6c will be ok. but go to marineengine.com. and have a look at your motor. ( it does say champion j4j) jmo.

Thanks. The plugs that were in it when I bought it were rj12c. I figured they weren't right since I think those are more lawn mower plugs.

Either the J6C (best for low speed and trolling) or the J4C (best for high speed operation) will work fine. jnp. Gap either at .030".

You are correct about the RJ12C. It is a resistor plug for high temp air cooled motors like lawn mowers.

Do not trust any plug application chart. They lie. Trust the guys who made your outboard.
