Hello,

I have recently purchased an Evinrude Starflite 90-S. The person I purchased it from said it runs good.

The only problem is that the wiring harness is cut off right before all of the wires go into the engine housing. The other problem is after that point the someone rewired the engine with all white wire. I will have to lay out all of the colors from the front of the engine back.

I was wondering if anyone have a manual with a wiring diagram. Right now I only want to start it so I guess I only need to know which wires are the starter. The two large wires I'm assuming at the + and - for the battery.

It had an amp gauge attached to other half of the wiring harness. I know two of the other wires are for that. But there are about 6 others I'm not sure about.

Thank you for your time,

Shade.... I can't help you with that problem, but if you want someone (anyone) to help, you'll need to list the year of your engine. The fact that you've stated the name "Starflite" would indicate that it's back around 1964 or so. If you're not sure of the year, list the model number which will indicate the year.

Re: Evinrude Starflite 90-S Wiring

Thank you for the great info Bear.

Sorry Joe, but I can't find any plates or dates, serial numbers, or any other identifying marks on the engine. All I know is it is a Evinrude Starflite 90-S.

On another note, I put the engine in neutral and I tried to turn the flywheel and it only moves a little then stops. On my small 9.9 that I have the flywheel moves freely.

Thanks again,

Got the flywheel to turn. Just a little harder than I thought.

Now I have to worry about it having a spark. Everything seems to be in place except for the + wire going to the solenoid is not attached to anything. The + wire that goes from the solenoid to the coil is attached properly though.

Where would the solenoid wire go?

Thanks again,

Shade.... It doesn't surprise me that you can't find and plates etc which would contain a model or serial number. The main wiring harness being cut would indicate that the engine has been stolen at one time, and when that happens, the ID plate on the left (port) transom bracket and the ID core plug on the powerhead are usually removed and destroyed.

On my Evinrude 9.9 there is a plate on the transom bracket so I thought it might have one.

I have all the necessary paper work that I bought it from the seller from ebay, I also got a bill of sale with his signature.

He gave me the other half of the wiring harness when I went to pick it up. It still had the amp gauge, temp gauge, and all other wires attached.

Thanks,

Now I admit that I would not see a hole in the ground until a fell in it.

I found the Serial Number and Model Number on a plate the back-left of the transom bracket.

I was looking on the side of the transom bracket. My 9.9 has it on the side, sorry.

Serial Number: E03897

Model Number: 90593C

Thanks again,
