Hi,i just got through solving my OMS troubles, turned out to be faulty vapour pump.Took it for a run today.Ran beautiful. The only trouble was the tacho wouldnt go past 4000rpm.Last run the tacho read 5200 at wot and 50mph.The wot revs are abit low due to motor needing a raise of about 5 inches, get to that another day.I am still getting 50mph and volt meter going from 12,13 volts at idle to around 14,15 volts at wot.Tacho isnt erratic, working fine, just wont go past 4000.I definetly know its reving higher than that.I removed the regulator and visually inspected it and no melting. The yellow wires have a tiny bit of discolouring at the connector but nothing like a short. The big question is if the regulator is still charging my battery and the tacho works uptill 4000rpm what could be the problem?Has any one had a similar problem with the system check tacho.Could the needle be sticking or regulator faulty.Sorry the motor is 1997 150 ocean pro.
