Has anyone had a tacho that sticks and wont go past a certain point? I turn the key ,system check tacho self diagnoses, runs through the light procedure, needle bottoms out at zero.Tacho reads fine in idle all the way up till 4000rpm then wont go any higher. Can tacho needles corrode or get stuck and wont go past a certain point.Definetly problem with unit.

Anything is possible... be sure tach is set to proper scale.
I have one now won't go past 2200.

Yeah mate anything is bloody possible with these outboards. The tacho isnt a real worry. its reads fine until 4000rpm and the system check alarms work so no worries.

Going to do exactly the same.Cant believe a new system tach is so expensive, around $400 in Australia but what is cheap with outboards.

Got the tacho working.Decided to pull the metal ring off the front of the tacho and remove glass.Moved the needle back and forth for awhile, assembled glass, hooked the tacho back up and works perfect.Reads all the way to wot.May stick again but in the mean time saved myself a few bucks.
