Evinrude Tilt problem

My friend has a Sunbird with an Evinrude 90 outboard. Last weekend his tilt quit working. without touching any switches the electric motor is still running in the down position. When you touch the button to bring the motor up it will raise but as soon as you let go it starts lowering again. I am thinking the down relay is hung and feeding constant power to unit. What are some things to check on the unit for this and where would the relays be.

To get it trailered we had to raise the motor and disconnect the battery to keep it up.

Yeh stuck relay.

Pretty much guarantee stuck relay but to be sure switch them and see if the problem follows the relay.

Not sure where exactly in your boat the relays will be, but follow the wiring from the trim motor and the wires will lead the way.
