The motor was up on the travel bar and I thought it was supported by the tilt hydraulic. I lifted the motor up slightly and took it off the travel bar. Bad news - the motor just came down gently and stopped at the bottom.

The electrics weren't working at the time so had no way of getting the motor back to the up position.

I released the side screw slightly so the motor could be raised back to the travel bar and this worked fine with no loss of fluid. Once up, I tightened the screw.

The electrics are now working - the tilt motor is running, but nothing is happening in terms of motor going down with the down switch. I again took the motor off the travel bar and it dropped gently down but only half way this time. I can hear the tilt motor working but again - the boat motor is going neither up nor down.

Nowwwww - what do I do????

The tilt doesn't hold my engine ('76 'rude) up either. Manual sez it's not suppose to. What does your manual say? You may be low on hydralic fluid. Again, check manual.

c/6

Hooty
