Larry, it depends as far as i know on if the motor is a 2 wire or 3 wire one. 2 wire i believe is for relay use, and 3 wire is for solenoid use ( i may be open to correction on this). I bought a 2nd hand t&t unit with no relay box last month and all i did was buy 2 relays and wire them up as per directions found in this forum and sealed them all in a box behind the transom and it works a treat and cost very little.

Larry,

I had a bit of trouble while researching kinda of the same query and ended up doing hrs of surfing to find what i needed to know.
From what i gather the relays are pretty much switches so one closes while the other one opens, thus letting the motor turn clock wise or anti c/w which then allows the trim cylinders to move up and down.

i used this diagram to wire the two relays

and it worked a treat.
I believe the relays were " single pole double throw" , what that is I haven't a clue but i asked for them and they worked.

also this may suit you too

Someone will surely be along with more good advice on wiring it up , but basically it goes.... motor - relay box- fuse panel & switch/s - battery.

or another diagram you may prefer ..it the same just a different concept ..surfed around in my head for 0. 2 seconds and there it was....Its the same circuit that is used on door locks in cars ..it has the advantage that when the relays are not activated the motor is shorted out which brings the RPM to zero real fast ( regenerative braking )
