Just traded a boat has a 135 hp evinrude outboard I think it is an eighties model number has worn off. Problem is this, the tilt&trim is
not working when i operate it i can hear the motor working. I put some more hydrulic oil in it
which it needed but alas still noting. I asked the guy that I got it off said that the hydrulic rams need to be resealed do you think that could be the problem

mataele,
Absolutely yes.The trim pump/ram assembly must be mechanically tight in order to operate. It is a hydraulic system.Any loss of pressure will make trim inoperative.Try giving the motor a little hands-on help when trimming(need a helper). If it moves a little while doing this then what you have been told is most likely the cause.I have to replace mine too in the spring. :D Look for wet oily area's on cylinder top...

If there's no sign of leaking fluid, another thing to check is that the Manual Release screw has not been left undone. This is found on the left side of the mounting bracket. If this is undone, you would be able to tilt the motor up by manually lifting it.
