Evinrude tilt tube

I ran up on a super deal on a Evinrude 40 only thing is the outboard does not have a tilt tube for my teleflex steering cable. How hard is it to install a new tilt tube as it does not appear to be to bad and also can it be done to this motor period.

THere is a tilt tube that was once available for that motor that bolted to the transom just below the motor's transom hold down screws. I have no idea where you could get one now. I'll bet your motor is a 70's model OMC, right?

Actually it is a 1993 model i have a plate i believe what you are talking about but can't get it to work just right.

Gee, I would think a '93 Johnny would have the hollow tilt tube, no?

You would think i just got such a great deal i could not pass it up, but no it does not have tilt tube.
