Evinrude to Mercury wiring

well this is probably a shot in the dark but here goes. First off, I have been doing mechanical work all my life. I am also a industrial electrician so I can troubleshoot and trace wires if needed. (not bragging or anything just stating the fact that I am up for the task if this is a pretty involved process). I know zilch about boats and am attempting a swap. I bought a 94 hydra sport bass boat that the owner robbed the motor off of. It was a 150 hp evinrude. The boat is in awesome shape and I am putting my 84 mercury XR2 150 on it. My motor is still running and on my other boat. The hydrasport I will be putting the motor on originally had the control box that was mounting inside the hull with nothing but the lever sticking out. I was originally going to just transfer my surface mounted box to this boat but have decided to go with a new setup. I am going to purchase the "Gen II" mercury control box and cables. I discovered I would have to go aftermarket on the cables so as to have the gen II stuff on the control box side and the older style ends for my motor on the other. My question lies with the wiring. The hydra sport boat has a mess of wiring that if I remember was about a 12 pin molex style connector on it. Im assuming this plugged into the evinrude and was the wiring for the water temp, trim sender, overheat sensor etc. I assumed the previous owner took all he needed from the boat for his motor as the ignition switch is gone as well as the control box and cables. Is there any wiring diagram I could go and get for an evinrude that would show what pins on this connector goes to what? I know I can pull the dash out and do a continuity test from each gauge to the wires, but I would hope to save some time. I believe the new mercury control box will come with everything I need to hook to my motor to run and then all I will be left with is the boat wiring to my engine for the gauges? I know the merc box comes with the trim in the handle. My motor is a carbed motor so all I really need as far as gauges are the tach and possibly the trim sender. I dont think this motor has a temp sensor just an alarm for high temp. In reality, Im hoping I only need a few of those wires out of that connector for my engine. I think the evinrude was injected so it probably had more stuff.
