Hello to the forum,
Did the search but didn't find the info I needed. My old 1960 Starflite 75 has a neat two piece bracket that bolts to the transom and the motor slips down into it. Do any other Evinrude's use such a bracket (I'm looking at a 1975-80 85hp V4)? If so, would it be TOO much to ask that it be the same? tnx, Steve

The seperate brackets were used thru the 1972 model year. In 1968 a newer style which allowed for vertical height adjustment. These could be used on earlier motors too. In 1973 OMC dicarded this mounting system and switched to a one piece mount bracket. A motor 73 and newer will not fit in the brackets, but the bolt holes should be the same

Perfect! Exactly what I needed to find out. Maybe the design wasn't all that good after all. Sure is cute though. A little more searching found that the bolt hole pattern does seem to be universal for OMC which is good news (I'm counting on it). Thanks Jimmbo for the helpful info.
