I have an 18 foot Procraft with a 175 Evinrude . When I bought the boat it didn't have a trim guage . Someone had removed it , but there is a three way toggle switch on the dash that works with the trim . I have to flip the switch up , then trim up with the switch on the gear stick , and have to flip it down to trim down . Do any of you know if replacing the switch with a new trim guage will allow me to trim up and down with the button on the stick , or will I have to do some kind of wiring fix also ?

I believe on your older engine, the trim system included a trim solenoid box which would mount on the inside of the boat by the transom and was wired direct to the battery. The normal control box switch would drive the trim through that box. (Later models had the trim relay box under the cowl.) Do you have that box?

I'm thinking it has 2 solenoids on the side of the big unit . I'm not where I can check it right now .
