Evinrude trolling motor question

I need some help, please! My question is similar to one posted previously by someone else, but had not response. Can someone please help me figure out how many lbs. of thrust an Evinrude Scout 12/24 trolling motor has? I don't see any model number or serial number on the unit. It is on a boat that is a 1988 model, so I assume it's the same age. It has a 36" shaft (I think), and it a foot-control bow mount unit. I am having some trouble with it and thinking about getting a new unit, and want to make sure I get one with at least as much (or more) thrust than this one has. Or if someone can just give me a general recommendation, the boat is a Ranger 393 with a 200 horse motor, the hull weight is probably 1375 plus 400 lbs for motor plus who knows what for three batteries, gear and 2-3 people. Also, are the new models (minnkota and motorguide) any easier on the foot with the new style pedals? Thanks for any help/recommendations, good fishing and may the Good Lord be your Guide.

Re: Evinrude trolling motor question

Well the smallest 24v trolling motor that I personally have ever seen was 46lbs. I hope that helps.

Is there a model number or serial number that you can post?

Re: Evinrude trolling motor question

Thanks for the info...But no, I can't find any numbers on it other than some patent numbers, and there are about six of those. It's a blue Evinrude scout bow-mount, foot-control with a 12/24 toggle switch on the side and an "on" button on the foot-pedal. Has a large direction indicator light on the top. Shaft has an offset to help keep weeds back from the motor. I saw a unit on ebay today that looks like it, but it appeared to be either older or not as good a shape as this one. Kind of hate to quit using it, if it's 15 years old they must have built them pretty good. Thanks again for your help, and may God bless you.

fishn
Hi
And it might have been my post you saw earlier. Try looking on the side or bottom of your foot control. I found mine there on a sticker. I may go back to johnson.com to get a list of dealers then try them. I'll post you with results

Luck to ya
Link

Re: Evinrude trolling motor question

Junk that trolling motor and buy a Minn kota Maxxum with 74 pounds of thrust.
The trolling motor is the most important piece of equipment on the boat.
