Evinrude tune up

Hi,<br />I would like to listen your opinion about EVINRUDE FASTWIN 18 HP (1968).Im<br />thinking to install on this EVINRUDE a carburator of EVINRUDE SPORTSTER 25 HP<br />(1971)or JOHNSON 25 HP (1971). Would this enchrase the power of my motor for<br />5-6 HP? As i dont have any catalog or manual of these motor i would also like<br />to know if the other technical parameters of this two motor are the same ( fastwin<br />18 and sportster 25)? <br /> Thanks

Bojan, The motors are both 22 cubes.<br />According to my service manual(which is somewhat limited) the carbs are basically the same, the 18 and 20 using .o68 main jet and the 25 using .072.<br />I dont think that is enough to get 7hp.more. Im guessing a simple carb change wont get the results you want.<br /> Someone should be along with more detailed info.

If the carb will fit it I say put it on there and try it, but with out replacing the reeds I dont know that you will get much more power out of it.
