I have a 92 Evinrude 150 HP 60 degree V6 with a bad rectifier (part no. 584093). I have a rectifier off a later model Ocean Pro 150 HP(part no. 586048) that looks like it should work. Can anybody verify this before I do something stupid?

mship,Unless someone knows better,I would not do it as the numbers don't cross over in the price book.
DHP

I believe the difference is the connectors. I'd bet it would work if you can change the connections and match up the color codes. Check the wire length before you do any cutting.

Good luck!

DHP and Dhadley
Thanks for your input. It does appear the only difference is the connector on the purple and gray wires. Are not both rectifiers for 35 amp charging systems?
I love this forum! I read the posts religiously and have learned a lot from other guy's problems.

mship,The parts book says 586048 is a 35 amp unit.
If (when) you try this as Dhadley says, make sure to match wire colors.Purple is switched 12v,and gray is tach feed.
DHP

Dhadley,
Update on the rectifier swap. I changed the connectors on the purple and gray wires on the newer rectifier to bullet type to match the connectors on the motor. I took the boat out this weekend for a test run and all is well. Tach and charging system are working correctly. Thanks for your advise.
