Re: Evinrude VRO Fuel Pump Replacement
18RTO....I just caught your response on your last thread about your engine. Really ought to keep it as one post. Easier to keep track of.

The replacement fuel pump from BRP does not have any wire harness coming from it. The replacement pump you got is probably an aftermarket OMS pump. If it has a wire harness coming from it, it is an oiling pump, meaning it mixes oil before the carb just like your original "VRO" pump. I have never used one of these pumps but I know they are advertised, so I don't have any real knowledge of how good they are.

How many line connections are on the pump that you purchased? Having a wire harness, I will assume it has four connections. One that goes to the block for operating the pump, one that connects to the fuel supply, one that connects to the oil supply and one on top that is the outlet that connects to the carb manifold. Three on the bottom and on on top (the outlet).

If you have run the engine without the oil side hooked up, you are probably introducing air into the carbs which will make for very poor running.

Please let us know what you have and we can go from there.......thanks!
