Evinrude - what engine do I have

I just bought a 15' runabout with an Evinrude motor. The classified advertisement said it had a 60 HP Evinrude motor. However when I inspected the boat and motor, the motor cover said "45". I asked about this and the seller said that when he bought the boat he asked the same question and was told that the "60" cover was damaged and was replaced with this cover. I checked the motor and the number on the motor is E60ELC1A 3 (pretty sure I got it right)

Question - what do I have????

Boat title/registration says 40 HP, but no vin # for motor.

I need to buy the manual for this so certainly need to know what motor I have. Also Prop is chipped so will want a new one - where and how much should I expect to pay.

Regards

and thanks in advance for any help.

Hal, E60 signifies a 60HP. The other numbers give shaft length, year and model run.

I don't have the codes in front of me, but you can probably find out the info on the maxrules.com web site.

The "1" is probably actually an "I". 1981
