What is this oil? My understanding is that most oils are actually another more general oil that has been relabeled by a retailer and marked up. Is this oil for sale at a lower price under another name?

Thanks.

Re: Evinrude XD 100

There is no equivalent oil from any vendor that is equal to XD100. It's a special formulation used for BRP DI motors (Ficht and E-Tec). If an E-Tec is set for using this oil, it must be used, or engine damage will occur. The is no other oil priced lower that's the same, period!

This is NOT a repair question and it should have been posted under non-repair topic.

Re: Evinrude XD 100

BRP (Evinrude) does not make the oil, but as Wilde explains it is unique. It is strictly an oil for DI engines.

Most oils branded by outboard makers are made by oil companies, then marketed (including huge markups) at marinas, etc.

I cannot say with certainty that they are the same as the store brands, like SuperTech, But I know of no documented evidence that they are any better than any other TC-W3 oil.
