I just bought a 1984 Baja sunsport 18ft and it has a evinrude xp 150 on it runs and sounds good. I was wanting to know if anybody out there knows how fast it will go on the water and if there are some horsepower upgrades, plus anyone know where the impeller is on this motor??
Sure there are horsepower upgrades if you want to tear the whole thing down, custom port the exhaust, install new reeds, rejet your carbs, etc. etc. etc.. It's certainly not cost effective.
Speed is a function of your boats weight, deadrise, prop pitch, engine condition, load, trim, etc.
Impeller is at the top of the lower unit like any other outboard. You'll need a factory service manual to do the job right.
