Evinrude XP

I have been trying to find a definitave answer to the question of the XP vs. non XP. I have a 1985 Evinrude 150 XP. or at least that is what the cowl says. The model number is E150STLTOS. Was this a marketing ploy the Evinrude used, or is ther a true difference between a non XP150 and the 150 that is badged XP?

I'm assuming the "XP" is the same as the Johnson "GT" that I have since they have the same model number (should be COS not T for 85).

The real difference is the higher output charging system (35 v 8 amp), other than the the GT was 20" only whereas the std 150 was 20" or 25"
