Re: Evironmentally friendly mixing oils
They are "biodegradable" and that is one of the main arguments to use these oils.

I used for 3 years biodegradable 2-stroke oil in my Suzuki DT65 (1991) without any problem. Less smell - maybe, hard to say. Less smoke - no I did not notice that.
The biodegradable 2-stroke outboard oil I used is sold by a gas company that is only in my country. It is more expensive than regular 2-stroke oil but since I maybe used that outboard 50 hours each year it is not that much cost to try to help polute less. I use a 4-stroke now instead (Yamaha F115).
I do not know if it is available in your country but in my country You can also buy "akrylat" gas that is very environment friendly considering it is "gas" to use with for example an 2-stroke outboard (I did not use this gas).
If You combine the oil and gas mentioned above it is probably the best You can do for the environment with an older 2-stroke today I think.

Other biodegradable 2-stroke oil I know of (in my country):
Castrol Biolube 100
Mobil 1 Outboard
Quaker State Synquest Outboard & Snowmobile
Valvoline Syn Power Outboard 2T
Cargo Poly-Twin
