I started up my '85 150 for the first time this year with the muffs on it. Everything seemed fine for about a minute, then I noticed excessive smoke coming from the right side of the mid-section. I felt the thermostats (which I replaced a year ago) and the right one felt VERY hot (almost burning), the left one felt normal. I felt the mid-section and it was very hot. When I first started it, I felt the stream, and it felt normal (a little warm). When I noticed the smoke, I felt the stream again and it was cool. The stream was good and steady. I understand that it's going to smoke, but the very hot thermostat and the cool stream is causing some concern. Am I over reacting? Thanks

If it was way to hot to touch, I would replace the thermostat. At least check the seal.

Check the nylon pressure relief valve for heat deformation. You may need to replace it also.
