Hi,

I recently rebuilt my 87 evinrude 200 which I recently bought knowing that #5 cylinder and piston was bad. I had a machine shop bore the cylinder out to 64 thousands over and hone the other five.I put it back together and it only ran for about 1 hour before loosing compression on #5 cylinder. I took the head off and foundthat the piston was either melted or battered on top and the top ring was bent. Also in rechecking the compression I found that #6 had dropped down to about 60 psi.The head was also damaged above #5

Re: exhaust from front of engine

Apparently the problem that trashed #5 in the first place still exists. Could have been running lean, or overheating.
