On the 4.3Gl Volvo Penta there is a large 3 or 4" flexible hose coming from the engine to the lower unit that carries exhaust gas and water from the engine. It is broke in half and the water and exhaust are leaving thru it. How important is this to be repaired and how difficult of a job would it be? Does the lower unit benefit from this or is it just a way to get the exhaust farther from the boat?
